Terms and conditions of sale
These terms govern every order placed through this website. Please read them before you order — you are asked to confirm that you accept them at checkout. Nothing here removes or limits your rights as a consumer under UK law.

1. Who you are contracting with
Goods on this website are sold by ISHTAR JEWELLERY LIMITED, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, trading as Ishtar Stones. Registered office and trading address: 346 Kilburn Lane, London, W9 3EF, United Kingdom. Contact: support@ishtarjewellery.shop, +44 7196509962, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:30 UK time.
These terms apply to consumers — individuals buying for purposes wholly or mainly outside a trade, business, craft or profession. If you are buying in the course of a business, tell us before ordering; different terms apply and the consumer rights described here will not.
2. How a contract is formed
- Adding an item to your basket is not an order.
- Submitting your details at checkout is an offer to buy on these terms.
- Our acknowledgement of your order is not acceptance. A contract is formed only when we send you a dispatch confirmation, and it covers only the goods named in it.
- We may decline an order — if the item is out of stock, if the price or a description was wrong, if we cannot verify the delivery address, if the order cannot lawfully be shipped to the destination, or if we suspect fraud. If we decline after taking payment we refund in full without delay.
3. Descriptions, declarations and photographs
Every piece carries a gem declaration: species, origin, every treatment applied, carat, millimetre size, Mohs hardness and a wear grade, plus metal fineness, net metal weight and hallmark status. Those declarations are made in good faith from supplier documentation and our own examination, and they form part of the contract. If a declaration is wrong, the goods are misdescribed and the remedies in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 section of our returns policy apply.
Natural stones vary. Colour, tone and inclusion pattern differ between individual stones of the same specification, and on cabochons, slices and uncut pieces so do outline and exact dimensions. Where a photograph is marked representative it shows a stone of the same specification, not the one you will receive. This variation is inherent to natural material and is not a defect. It is, of course, a perfectly good reason to exercise your 14 day right to change your mind.
Colour on a screen is not colour in the hand. Displays differ in calibration and ambient light changes how a stone reads. We photograph under consistent lighting and do not retouch stones to remove inclusions.
4. What we do not say about our goods
We describe stones in terms of mineralogy and documented history only. We make no statement, and give no warranty, about any effect of any stone on health, mood, sleep, calm, fortune, wealth, protection, relationships or wellbeing, and we do not make such statements in hedged form. If you have seen a claim of that kind attributed to this shop anywhere, it did not come from us. See gem declarations.
5. Jewellery, not an investment
Everything sold here is consumer jewellery, sold to be worn. It is not offered as a financial product, a way to store value, or an asset expected to rise in price. We make no representation about what any piece may be worth in future and we do not deal in bullion. No statement on this site should be relied on for any financial purpose.
6. Prices, VAT and currency
- All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include UK VAT at the applicable rate.
- Delivery is charged separately, shown in the basket and again at checkout before you commit to anything. UK delivery is free on orders over £120.
- On orders leaving the UK, UK VAT is deducted where applicable at checkout and destination import VAT, duty and handling fees become payable by you on arrival. See delivery.
- Prices may change, but the price that applies to your order is the one shown when you place it.
- If a price is obviously wrong — an evident mispricing that you could reasonably have recognised as an error — we may decline the order and refund you in full rather than fulfil it.
7. Payment
Payment is taken in pounds sterling through a PCI DSS compliant payment provider on its own hosted page. Card details are never transmitted to or stored on this website. The full amount payable, including delivery, is shown before you are asked to pay. Goods remain our property until payment has cleared in full.
Where a payment step has not yet been enabled on this site, no card details are requested and no money is taken through it; we contact you to arrange payment directly.
8. Delivery and risk
Delivery options, costs and timescales are set out on the delivery page. Where no date is agreed we will deliver within 30 days of the contract being formed. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to you or to a person you have nominated. Title passes when we have received payment in full.
9. Cancelling, returning and refunds
Your 14 day right to change your mind, the two exceptions that apply in this shop, your rights if goods are faulty or misdescribed, and how refunds are paid are set out in full in the returns, refunds and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. Repairs and aftercare
We will re-tighten a loose claw or re-glue a pearl on a cup-and-peg fitting free of charge within 12 months of purchase, where the piece has been worn in line with the wear grade stated on it. That is the whole of what is promised, and it is deliberately narrow so that it can be relied on.
Chargeable and quoted case by case: resizing, chain repair, restringing, refinishing, stone replacement. Not undertaken at all: repair of a stone that has been chipped or cracked in wear, colour restoration on an irradiated or coated stone, and any work on a fracture-filled stone that would require heat.
We give no warranty against scratching, dulling, chipping or wear of any stone or metal. Nothing in this shop is described as resistant to wear, and no piece is sold with an open-ended guarantee.
11. Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence; for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; for breach of your legal rights in relation to the goods, including the right to receive goods that are as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose; and for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.
We do not supply goods for commercial resale. We have no liability for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
12. Events outside our control
We are not liable for delay or failure caused by an event outside our reasonable control. If one occurs we will contact you as soon as possible and the delivery period will be extended by the length of the delay. If the delay exceeds 30 days you may cancel and we will refund you in full for goods not delivered.
13. Using this website
The text, photographs, layout and code on this site belong to us or our licensors. You may view and print pages for your own use. You may not copy them for commercial purposes, scrape the catalogue, or present our declarations as your own. Acceptable use is set out separately in the acceptable use policy.
14. General
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, and we will tell you if we do. You may only transfer yours with our written agreement.
- This contract is between you and us. No other person has any right to enforce it.
- If a court finds any part of these terms unlawful, the rest continues in force.
- A delay in enforcing these terms is not a waiver of the right to enforce them later.
- We may amend these terms; the version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any contract formed under them are governed by the law of England and Wales. Both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own country’s courts.
