About this piece
Natural emerald with the internal fracture network the trade calls the jardin. Those fractures are what emerald is; a natural emerald without them is far rarer than most buyers realise. Surface-reaching fractures on this stone have been filled to reduce their visibility, which is standard practice for the species and has been for centuries. The filler is not permanent. It rules out ultrasonic and steam cleaning outright, and the stone should be kept away from solvents and sustained heat.

I did not know fracture filling was normal for emerald until I read the declaration page here. Would rather be told than find out from a jeweller in ten years. Arrived in three days.
