About this piece
An emerald cut — step facets rather than brilliant facets — which suits aquamarine because the material is usually clean enough to survive the scrutiny a step cut invites. Held against the light you should see straight through it. Beryl has one direction of imperfect cleavage, so the claws sit on the corners where the stone is strongest.
